Higher Education Department
“Education should be imparted with a view to the type of society that we wish to build. We are working for a modern democracy built on the values of human dignity and equality. These are only ideals; we should make them living forces. Our vision of the future should include these great principles".
Higher education is a key driver of Kerala's transformation into a knowledge-based society. The Government of Kerala focuses on enhancing academic excellence, expanding access, and promoting research and innovation.
Kerala has a strong higher education network comprising 15 universities, over 1,300 arts and science colleges, 150 + engineering colleges, and several professional institutions in law, management, and technology. Together, these institutions provide quality educational opportunities across government, aided, and self-financing sectors, supporting the state's vision of sustainable development and a knowledge-driven economy.
